Writers Craig D. Allen, William deBuys, and Katherine Ware join photographers Metcalf & Galan to discuss FIRE GHOSTS. The work looks at the effects of the 2011 Las Conchas Fire that devastated the Jemez Mountains, the Valles Caldera, and Los Alamos areas of northern New Mexico. The authors did not expect to find beauty—or much evidence of regeneration there––but, surprisingly, they found both. Their haunting and powerful images bear witness to the adaptability and persistence of nature.
