THIRSTY WORD FEATURES ALBUQUERQUE POET LAUREATE, MICHELLE OTERO

 

            Albuquerque Poet Laureate, Michelle Otero will read her work at 7 P.M., Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Thirsty Word Reading Series, Thirsty Eye Brewing Company, 206 Broadway S.E.

            Otero’s work has appeared or is forthcoming on Modern Love Podcast, and NPR’s Code Switch. Author of Malinche’s Daughter, and founding member of TIASO, an artists’ collaborative that does long-term work with Albuquerque neighborhoods, she also participates in the Macondo Writer’s Workshop, an association of socially engaged accomplished writers who seek to foster creativity through working with local communities.

            An open mic. poetry reading will follow the feature presentation, sign up at 6:30 (3 mins. ea., ten readers.)

            Presented at Thirsty Eye Brewing Co., the Thirsty Word Reading Series features prominent writers who will read every second Wednesday of each month. The brewery, next door to the 208 Gallery, is rapidly becoming a home for artists, poets, writers, and intellectual types who find there a gathering place and a scene that promotes new work and new thinking.
