The Public Library and Friends of the Public Library present our annual book to film adaptation event, Books to the Big Screen! Cimarron (1960) The Oklahoma Land Run of April 1889 sets the stage for an epic saga of a frontier adventurer, his wife and family and their friends. Directors: Anthony Mann, Charles Walters (uncredited) Writers: Arnold Schulman (screenplay), Edna Ferber (novel) Stars: Glenn Ford, Maria Schell, and Anne Baxter.

The Public Library Albuquerque and Bernalillo County’s annual Books to Big Screen film series heads over to the historic KiMo Theatre (423 Central Ave. NW) this week with a collection of classic Western novels turned Hollywood hits. On Thursday, Feb. 6 it’s 1960s’s Cimarron starring Glenn Ford. On Friday, Feb. 7 it’s 1952’s High Noon with Gary Cooper. Saturday gives us 1969’s True Grit starring John Wayne. Things wrap up on Saturday, Feb. 9 with 1958’s The Big Country featuring Gregory Peck. Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s films start at 7pm. Sunday is a matinee screening starting at 2pm.
