Enjoy a jam group and dance with goals to promote and perpetuate old-time fiddling, country and folk music as well as laugh, sing and dance.
The Fiddlers and Musicians of New Mexico are an old-time fiddle and country music jam group and dance that meets at the Bosque Farms Community Center the second Saturday of each month from 6-9 pm and the fourth Sunday of the month from 2-5 pm (with the exception of April and August where the group meets on the third Saturday). One goal of these jams is to promote and perpetuate old-time fiddling, country, and folk music. Another is to have a good time, enjoy each other’s company, laugh, sing, and dance.
Some standard tunes that come up include: Under Your Spell Again- Buck Owens, Kiss an Angel Good Morning- Charlie Pride, Amanda- Waylon Jennings, Faded Love- Bob Wills, Today I Started Loving You Again- Merle Haggard, Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used to Do!?- Hank Williams
And Fiddle Tunes like: Arkansas Traveler, Ashokan Farewell, Boil 'em Cabbage, Down Yonder, Georgiana Moon, Maiden's Prayer, Westphalia Waltz, Jesse Polka
All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to professionals. Our mission is to celebrate and perpetuate this music and learning is encouraged.
We love new tunes, but we ask that you sing and/or play at least one old country song so everyone can play along. Or just come to dance, we love having dancers. Let's all remember the joy of picking and grinning while we dance our trouble away!
