The ethics of Medical Cannabis presents a wide range of ethical issues. The conversation five years ago sounds very different from the one we’re having now and will probably sound very different from the one we will have in five years hence.
One of the hallmarks of Cannabis use is the possibility of catalyzing psychotic behavior. Cannabis use has been characterized as appetite inducing, lazy making and incapacitating rational thought.
Various ways of parsing the subject are necessary to make sense of a moving target:
How is Medical Cannabis different from recreational Cannabis?
What are the criteria for diagnosing the symptomology for prescribing Medical Cannabis?
What are the pros and cons of Medical Cannabis as treatment modality for pain management?
How would Cannabis use interact with substance abuse treatment?
How is quality of life to be valued when considering alternatives to opiates in dealing with pain management?
