A four-day festival featuring klezmer dance and instrumental music, rooted in the traditional wedding ceremonies of the Eastern European Jewish people.

From February 14-16, 2020 Congregation Nahalat Shalom in Albuquerque, New Mexico will be celebrating the 18th annual (Chai year!) festival of klezmer music and dance "KlezmerQuerque." The festival presents a wide variety of events for all ages, abilities and budgets including a free dance and movement event for children and families, concerts, performances, storytelling, dance parties, Shabbat services, plus music, dance and storytelling workshops. Three special guest artists will be featured at all events throughout the weekend: Bruce Bierman (Berkeley, CA, Choreographer, director, Yiddish and Yemenite dance master and teacher); Dan Blacksberg (Phil., PA, Trombonist, Klezmer, Jewish music and experimental jazz); Nick Millevoi (Phil., PA, Electric guitar, klezmer and experimental jazz). KlezmerQuerque will also feature the talents of many local klezmer artists including: Beth Cohen (voice and strings), The Rebbe’s Orkestra, The Nahalat Shalom Community Klezmer Band, Rikud Yiddish Dancers, Alavados Ensemble, Clara Byom (clarinet/ musicology), Margot Leverett (virtuoso klezmer clarinet), Di Kavene Kapelye, Ambush Brass and Batya Podos (Maggidah- storyteller).
