There was a Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing on June 27, 2018. Members of the TBDC are preparing to travel to Washington, DC for further hearings on expanding the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) to include the people of New Mexico. Members will testify before Congress on the negative health effects suffered by the people of New Mexico due to the over exposure to radiation after the July 16, 1945, nuclear detonation (atomic bomb). This year will mark the 75th year that many people living in and around the Trinity Test Site (150 mile radius) have suffered and continue to suffer with health problems.
