Classics for peaceniks

Apple Hill String Quartet plays for peace. The quartet is ensemble-in-residence at Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in rural New Hampshire. Along with an intensive chamber music summer camp, the center’s mission is to serve as sonic matchmaker for players from historically conflicted communities, promoting dialogue and connection. Arabs are paired with Israelis, blacks with whites and Catholics with Protestants. Sunday Chatter at The Kosmos (1715 Fifth Street NW) features the foursome performing Cimarosa’s “Concerto for Oboe and Strings,” Mozart’s “String Quartet No. 15 in D minor K. 421” and two tangos. The gratis espresso bar perks up on March 24 at 9:30 a.m., and the music begins at 10:30 a.m. Tickets to the all-ages concert range from $5 to $15.
