Dance concert featuring choreography by internationally acclaimed guest artists as well as three new works by UNM’s Donna Jewell and Vladimir Conde Reche.

For this concert Vladimir Conde Reche has choreographed two new works, “Farewell at Dawn” and “NLN” and Donna Jewell collaborates with Dr. Regina Carlow and members of the Dolce Suono chorus in a structured improvisation entitled “Frost.” The talents of the students in the dance program are highlighted in “Martinete,” a rhythmically intricate piece by renowned flamenco master Mercedes Amaya, and “Court Dance,” by award winning choreographer Zoë Knights which uses movement inspired by film footage of the 2011 NBA Finals. Continuing its dedication to re-staging masterworks, the concert includes “Battleworks Etude,” part of American Dance Legacy Initiative’s Repertory Etudes™ Collection, by Robert Battle, the Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. “Battleworks Etude” has been arranged by Erika Pujič, a founding member of Robert Battle’s original dance company, who will also perform one of his solo works. Expect the unexpected in ArtFacts, a concert of innovative, inspiring, exhilarating dance!
