Sevillanas are a festive folk dance named for the city of Sevilla. Throughout Andalucia ( southern Spain) this lively partner dance is shared by young and old at family parties, in bars, and various festivals or ¨ferias¨. It is great exercise, lots of fun and a perfect way to learn more about flamenco, the powerfully, earthy and sensual rate of Andalucia.   We will use the form/structure of the Sevillanas as a way to learn some essential elements of flamenco dance including basic posture, foot percussion, turns, arm and hand movements and more importantly, the rhythm or ¨compas¨.
