On the Origin of Feces

Everybody Does It

Poop, feces, dung … whatever you want to call it, we all know it's sort of gross. But what we may not all know is that scat (the term most widely used by scientists) can also be fascinating and incredibly telling. Dr. Adrian Hunt, world-famous coprolite (fossilized dinosaur droppings) researcher and scientist, invites you to learn more about the importance of studying such things at "On the Origin of Feces" on Sunday, Sept. 1 from noon to 4pm at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. Museum experts will be on hand with specimens of coprolites, bear, turkey, fox, deer, rabbit and coyote scat, fish guts and more. Admission to both the museum and the event are free, so indulge in your yucky side, and learn more about the science of poop. (Emily Aragon)
