Cover: $5 Doors: 8 PM About: blackQueen is a musical representation of the the powers of nature being channeled through a human host, and of the fear born from its misunderstood creative and destructive elements. Biography: blackQueen started in 1998 in San Francisco out of the need to practice ritual magick via soundtrack horror metal, with stage antics and costumes that were ominously dark, yet sometimes bordered on the ridiculous and preposterous. Utilizing live ritual, pyrotechniques, and subversive promotional tactics, blackQueen soon became known as a powerful and obscure musical entity, in the SF metal scene, and also to the average listener, and performance art fan. Their first effort and demo, 'Witch Metal' was recorded on 4 track and represented the bands willingness to be completely DIY, yet also to distance themselves from hardcore and black metal, by never venturing too far into either influence, yet remaining as a soundtrack to an end to the world of man thru the underground powers of esoteric witchcraft. The second release. 'the Antropocalypse' was recorded at Lucky Cat Studios by Kurt Schlegel, and was the first metal record to ever use oceanic terrestrial intelligence as its subject matter. Currently, blackQueen has reactivated after a hiatus, and is active in their new home turf of the great northwest, with a new lineup, playing shows and writing material. In 2012 they released a Split 7" with The Family Curse with custom screen printed covers featuring art by Coby Ellison, and also the 5 song CD 'March of the Obsidian Triumvirate' which features artwork by Lara Haynes Freed of Wormwood, and was home recorded by member Brandon Fitzsimons. BlackQueen designs and screen prints its own t-shirts, stickers and posters.
