Please join us at Apple Mountain Music for an evening of Irish Traditional, Gypsy Jazz and Quebecois music! From Chicago, Illinois, Andy Young has played Irish traditional music on hammered dulcimer, Irish flute, and tin whistle for years. Now Andy's performances infuse traditional Irish, Quebecois and Gypsy Jazz melodies. Never before have you heard the hammered dulcimer played like this! Andy is taking the hammered dulcimer in an exciting new direction! Andy’s performances provide a deep understanding of the role of music in our multicultural and interpersonal world. Andy combines elements from European cymbalom players, as well as jazz guitarists in his approach to playing Gypsy Jazz. Irish Traditional music includes upbeat reels, jigs, and hornpipes that will get your feet tapping! Traditional music from Quebec has much more in common with Irish and Scottish music than anything from France, largely due to the influence of neighboring cultures in that region. A unique aspect of Quebecois music is the inclusion of 'crooked tunes' that skip or add a beat. As a percussionist, Andy was drawn to the quirky timing of this music and how it keeps the listeners on their toes. Andy will be joined by Al Tauber on guitar, and special guest Andi Tauber on vocals - a husband and wife acoustic singer-songwriter duo also from Chicago. Call Apple Mountain Music at 505-237-2048 to reserve your seat in advance as space is limited. "Be prepared to be totally blown away by his masterful proficiency and spectacular, energetic musical interpretations." - Chicago Tribune
