Intimate Spirits
Jesus Munoz Flamenco via FacebookIt's said that flamenco can never truly be experienced in a theater. Traditionally, performances were impromptu and happened within the the home amongst a small group of participants. Picture your average flamenco show. Now, picture yourself up there on the stage, feeling the air vibrate with the jaleo and zapateado. Casa Flamenca will be hosting a tablao—an intimate experience with the musicians and dancers of Jesús Muñoz Flamenco's “Live!”— following two days of performances at the National Hispanic Cultural Center featuring an hour of the production in a close setting. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience flamenco the way it's supposed to be performed by real pros. The exclusive event costs $100 and is worth every penny. (Joshua Lee)
