Howdy, Neighbor
Some Texas trailer parks are basically their own countries, and the Adobe Theater is handing out the closest thing to a passport with the comedic stage presentation of Doublewide, Texas. Join the residents of a tiny trailer park as they battle being annexed by a nearby town. Come see the sometimes weird and always funny characters of this against-the-grain comedy by the Jones Hope Wooten team attempt to secede from Texas when the show opens this Friday, Jan. 19 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $17 for general admission and $15 opening weekend for students and seniors. (Joshua Lee)

Gunning for a Good Time
What's more fun than a robbing spree drenched in the blood of innocent bystanders and ending in a rain of bullets? A robbing spree with music and dance numbers! America's most infamous couple is back for a thrilling romp in Bonnie and Clyde, by the equally infamous Frank Wildhorn. Watch the doomed pair ride that spiral all the way to the bottom of the barrel all while bopping to a Tony-nominated score. You can see the murderous lovers all month starting this Friday, Feb. 2, at the Musical Theatre Southwest. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30pm and Sunday shows begin at 2pm. Tickets are $22 for general admission. The show is 13+, but anyone under 18 needs a signed parental permission waiver because of violence or something. (Joshua Lee)

Music equals Hope
Courtesy of the artistKubatana Marimba BandIn the Shona language of Zimbabwe, the word tariro means hope. The word is also the name of a multinational nonprofit aimed at helping young women, orphans and other displaced peoples in the upheaval-filled nation of Zimbabwe. On Saturday, Feb. 3, The Outpost Performance Space presents its Annual Benefit for Tariro Concert. This year's recital features performances by Kubatana Marimba Southwest, Albuquerque's best marimba band, and Wagogo, a Burque world beat ensemble that features legendary local players like Armando Ortega engaging the best in native New Mexican folk, Caribbean and African grooves. This annual event is meant for all ages: a suggested donation of $20 gets listeners through the door and children under 12 are free. Remember it's for a cause so joyful dancing and getting lost in the color and flavor of it all are totally acceptable. The performance begins at 7pm and continues until 9 that evening. (August March)

Let Me See That Tootsie Roll!
Several years ago, author Edward Goodman adopted a blind dog named Tootsie who was found abandoned on the streets of Corrales. He was so inspired by her spirit, even though she had a disability, that he started a rescue after she passed called Tootsie's Vision that strives to improve the lives of blind dogs and find them happy, loving homes. This Saturday, Feb. 3, Goodman and his blind dog, Woody, are at Taylor Ranch Library to share more about Tootsie's Vision and also read his children's book Woody Runs for Mayor. This all-ages event is free so meet Goodman and Woody from 3 to 4pm! (Valerie Serna)

The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
