Hee-Haw!
The New Mexico State Fair—a huge annual showcase of the Land of Enchantment's culture, art, food, music, agricultural produce and livestock—begins on Thursday, Sept. 6 and continues through Sunday, Sept. 16. Besides the usual suspects (BBQ turkey legs, fry bread, fresh pies and a midway faster and more fun than just about anything else in town) this year's state fair offers attendees the opportunity to check out the PRCA rodeo or State Fair Parade whilst also getting tips on healthy rural lifestyles, viewing vintage automobiles, appreciating the state's veterans and getting up close and personal with bunnies and chicks. A number of notable musical performances are in the offing to, including sets by Collective Soul, Dustin Lynch and EDM sensations, DNCE. There's obviously something for everyone at the fair, which is open daily from 10am until 9pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am until 10pm. General admission to the fair is $10; seniors 65+ and children aged 6 to 11 pay only $7 to get into the biggest show in the state. See ya there, cowpokes! One Hell of a Ride
Courtesy of Duke City RockersThe Duke City Rockers host their 9th annual charity rally that may just be “The Wildest One Yet.” Taking place from Friday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Sept. 9, this year benefits Full Battle Rattle, a nonprofit dedicated to teaching veterans guitar skills as a way to cope with post-war effects from combat. Friday, join your favorite bikers at 377 Brewery for “Pints and Pistons” at 6pm for tasty beer, auctions of moto-centric art and more. Get Saturday started at 9:30am at Rust is Gold Coffee to pick up a pack of rally-themed goodness for $20 to $40 that includes a t-shirt, raffle ticket and great gack. Follow the bad boys on an organized ride to Sierra Blanca Brewery for lunch and Lazy Lizard Brewery for a beer or two. Saturday night takes the convoy to Canteen Brewhouse for live music from Jimmy Deveney, The Silvers Foxes, De Lux as well as a bike show, vendors and more. Finish the weekend strong on Sunday with breakfast at the Owl Cafe at 9:30am and an organized ride. All of these events welcome all-ages to partake. Not only are the rockers awesome humans to share this experience with, but it's all for an admirable and deserving cause. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)

City on the EdgeCity on the Edge is a breezy, smart podcast looking at the stories from Albuquerque history that have often been overlooked. Each episode takes a deep dive into a topic like the 1955 crash of TWA flight 260, Sandia Man or the 1918 quarantine. 2020 Bosque Chile FestivalLooking for a little chile? The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
