Truth, Rocanrol-Style
Courtesy of the artistThe Facebook event posting for the event featuring Japanese hard rock duo Mugen Hoso—as well as two of Burque's most shredded out, burning with black fire and tasty chops into noisy oblivion bands, Constant Harmony and Shrewd—says that the show will destroy the venue, Zullos on Wednesday, Sept. 19 beginning at 8pm. I certainly hope not, because many Downtown-going, music-craving peeps in town have discovered cool jams emanating from this relatively new joint and frankly it would be nice to see much more. Anyway, you can count on the Sillery siblings to rock the heck out as Constant Harmony while Shrewd is about as sonically screwed as it gets here in the high desert. To top it all off the headliners implore listeners who visit their website that they “must shout and dance when they see our show.” “Let's rock together!” the band further intones. And why not; for the price of a $10 cover and an ID that says you are 21+, you can't get closer to the rocanrol truth than this. (August March)

Painter Uses Speed as Tool for Art
Courtesy of the artistRemember Bob Ross? He painted those quaint, detailed landscapes in his allotted 30 minutes every week for years. Think that was fast? Hold on to your palettes. Speed Painter Tim Decker is about to blow some damn socks off. Hitting The Stage at Santa Ana Star on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7pm, he gives a commanding performance blending music, humor, audience interaction and his two-handed painting technique to create giant portraits of icons in four to seven minutes. Ahem, we said four to seven minutes! This dude performs this sorcery an average of 120 times per year. His popularity took off quickly beginning in 2009, after he had a dream about speed painting on a boardwalk. Like, he had a dream that he had talent and then all of a sudden he had talent. Insane. Check him out for just $10, but only with a valid 21+ ID. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)

City on the EdgeCity on the Edge is a breezy, smart podcast looking at the stories from Albuquerque history that have often been overlooked. Each episode takes a deep dive into a topic like the 1955 crash of TWA flight 260, Sandia Man or the 1918 quarantine. Worthwhile listening that will spur your curiosity about things you didn’t even know about in the city where you live. It’s free and available wherever you get your podcasts. (Clarke Condé)

2020 Bosque Chile FestivalLooking for a little chile? The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
