Blues, More Blues and Then Some More Blues
The Land of Enchantment Blues Festival, cosponsored this year by usual suspects the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and new comers UltraHealth, happens on Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to 6:30pm and Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 6:30pm at Loretto Park in Bernalillo, N.M. This singular digression into the blues, once held up in Madrid, moved to the more arcadian location northwest of Burque and along the river a couple of years ago, where it has been successfully growing, spouting cyan, cobalt and Prussian blue vibes ever since. This year's two-day festival features performances by both local and national acts of renown, including John Németh, Mem Shannon, The Blues Revue Band, Billy D & the HooDoos, Joanna Conner, Hillary Smith's Chill House, The Plateros and, get this, a two hour New Mexico all-star blues jam! A two-day pass to this all-ages festival costs between $30 and $40; one day admission ranges from $15 to $20. Get blue and believe in the power, brothers and sisters; this fest is the most for folks with such groovy inclinations, dig? A Consensual Cuddle Puddle
Image via PixabaySome of us crave human touch more than others. This sometimes desperate need for connection can bore a hole into the soul that no other feeling can fill. The Source provides this service, known as The Cuddle Revolution, on Sundays, including Sept. 2, starting at 6pm and potentially stretching into the wee hours. While this is both platonic and PG-rated, it is for adults only. The first snuggle sesh is free, but donations are always appreciated and accepted. Please arrive on time, as essential exercises in the first hour are meant to build authentic connection and an understanding of consensual touching for the ultimate therapeutic experience. No one is required to cuddle, snuggle or embrace and you can leave at any time. Feel free to bring snacks and anything else that makes you comfortable and get ready for some serious, restorative nuzzling. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)

U-Pick Green Chiles and Farmers' MarketCourtesy of Big Jim FarmsEvery New Mexican loves the smell of roasting chiles. We wait for it. It stops us in our tracks when we catch the whiff. Want to bathe yourself in it like we do? Big Jim Farms can make that wish come true. Saturdays and Sundays through September and October, including Sept. 8 and 9 from 9am to 5pm, savor the experience of picking your own green or red chiles with onsite roasting! These chiles are grown chemical-free by a third generation farmer and range from mild to extra hot. Prices are by basket size, which includes mini, small, medium, large and bushel, with the option to have your spoils roasted right in front of you for $5 more. There are also pre-picked fruits and vegetables for sale. Meet the farmer, see where the food is grown and get ready to load up on the New Mexican staple, while relishing in that intoxicating chile pheromone. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)

2020 Bosque Chile FestivalLooking for a little chile? The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
