A Bad Dog
Image courtesy of the artistBow Wow is coming to Leo's Nightclub. That's right, folks, Shad Gregory Moss, rapper and movie personality is spitting it live in the Duke City on Saturday, March 16 at 5pm. The artist responsible for such awesome aughts rap favorites like “Bounce With Me,” "The Wickedest” and “Let's Get Down” is back on the road, even after prematurely advising fans of his retirement from rap in 2016. He's still got the same dash and panache though, even recently tweeting Trump that he was going to “pimp your wife and make her work for us.” Damn. Although that message was soon deleted, the rapper's main mission of making killer tuneage continues, even as he faces domestic violence charges related to an encounter with longtime girlfriend, Kiyomi Leslie on Superbowl Sunday. If that latter kind of cultural relevance doesn't make it impossible to check out a show by yet another troubled rap artist, then hey, rock on, rockers. Tickets for this 21+ performance cost $30 to $40 and are available at holdmyticket.com. (August March)

Avert Your Gaze, Lest Ye Be Blinded
Image via PixabayOver a quarter of a century ago, home viewers of a little show called “Star Search” were left gasping in utter bliss after witnessing the transcendence that is Carrot Top. His humble tools that fateful evening, so long ago? A box of props, a head full of scarlet curls and a dream. Expelled from the loins of Florida, this comic genius has become world-famous since his meek introduction, leaving in his wake a multitude of stunned and emotionally shattered audiences driven blind by the sheer brilliance of his magnificence. He is performing this Saturday, March 16, at the Legends Theater at Route 66 Casino. The all ages event starts at 8pm. Tickets for the once-in-a-lifetime show start at $26. (Joshua Lee)

Paint the Town Brown
Image via PixabayFor the ninth year, the Southwest Chocolate and Coffee Fest descends upon Albuquerque, leaving a trail of brown delights in its wake. Even though the actual event takes place exclusively at the Manuel Lujan Building at Expo New Mexico on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17, there are deliciously decadent events happening all week leading up to the fest. Brown out with local and regional coffee roaster, chocolatiers, bakers and vendors and take part in yoga, cupcake-making classes, tastings, enjoy live music, a kids' zone and so much more. And for the record, “so much more” includes cow milking demos, ya know, just to cover all bases. This all ages event runs from 10am to 6pm both days with ticket prices set at $10 in advance for ages 13 and older, $12 at the gate, $3 for ages 4 through 12 and free for chocolate lovers under 4. City on the EdgeCity on the Edge is a breezy, smart podcast looking at the stories from Albuquerque history that have often been overlooked. Each episode takes a deep dive into a topic like the 1955 crash of TWA flight 260, Sandia Man or the 1918 quarantine. Worthwhile listening that will spur your curiosity about things you didn’t even know about in the city where you live. It’s free and available wherever you get your podcasts. (Clarke Condé)

2020 Bosque Chile FestivalLooking for a little chile? The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
