Do Tell Motel
Image via PixabayIf you don’t already have plans to watch two ex-lovers and an alcoholic father argue in a desert motel room this weekend, then come on down to The Adobe Theater for Sam Shepard's Fool for Love. Directed by Jeff Andersen, this Shepard classic explores personal identity, both in and out of love. Shepard himself said about the play, “Falling in love is such a dumbfounding experience. In one way you wouldn’t trade it for the world. In another way it’s absolute hell.” Curtain is at 7:30pm on March 28, 29 and 30, with a 2pm matinee on Sunday, March 31. Tickets are $15. Write On!
Image by Clarke CondeDo you long to be the next Stephen J. Cannell? Do you have another “The Rockford Files” burning deep inside you? You can’t just take the paper out of your typewriter, throw it in the air and hope for success. Scotty Milder teaches you what you need to know to Become a TV Writer, finding the fame, fortune and plot-twisting cliffhangers of the small screen. Milder says, “I’ll be talking about the process of developing hour-long drama pilots and series bibles/pitches, the structure/hierarchy of a writer’s room, script format and the way TV distribution is changing.” Classes run Sundays starting March 31 through May 12 from 6pm to 9pm and cost $350 (that you'll surely recoup in the first royalty check). Sol Acting Academy hosts the series and visit www.solacting.com for more info. (Clarke Conde)

Edible Herbs in the Concrete Jungle
Image via PixabayThe preconception of the desert is perceived as brown, spiky, hot and just generally kind of unwelcoming. We don't think about being able to forage for food and survive on this vegetation, especially in the urban desert of Albuquerque. Welp, Spur Line Supply Co. is about to change that notion. Join other curious omnivores and fans of the holistic on Sunday, March 31 from 12:30 to 1:15pm on an Urban Foraging Walk. Learn to identify and harvest tasty and practical foliage with a focus on invasive and humdrum plants we walk by every day that can be used for things like food, tea and skin care. This walk is free and suitable for all ages and abilities. (Mayo Lua de Frenchie)

City on the EdgeCity on the Edge is a breezy, smart podcast looking at the stories from Albuquerque history that have often been overlooked. Each episode takes a deep dive into a topic like the 1955 crash of TWA flight 260, Sandia Man or the 1918 quarantine. Worthwhile listening that will spur your curiosity about things you didn’t even know about in the city where you live. It’s free and available wherever you get your podcasts. (Clarke Condé)

2020 Bosque Chile FestivalLooking for a little chile? The 2020 Bosque Chile Festival, a celebration of food, art, and culture on the Rio Grande, is happening Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16, with times waiting to be officially announced. But due to COVID-19 and the State of New Mexico public health order, the festival will be presented virtually! There will still be entertainment, art activities, a virtual artisan market, chile-chef demonstrations, educational workshops and more. This free, all-ages event is meant to give those stuck at home a chance to see what the state has to offer. If you are a high-quality chile-inspired and authentic New Mexican business with an e-commerce website and want to be a vendor, there is still time. Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, August 5. For more information email bosquechilefestival@bernco.gov.
