ATLiens, a masked and mysterious EDM/trap/hip-hop duo—named after OutKast's second illustrious album—have a gig on Friday, Dec. 20 at 9pm at the Historic El Rey Theatre as part of a series of national EDM and trap events titled Parade of Lasers. ATLiens is composed of two anonymous DJ/producers who are represented by the same management group that works with acts like Black Tiger Sex Machine, Space Jesus and Infected Mushroom, so concert-goers can be sure that at some point during the evenings proceedings, heavy bass, glow sticks and maybe even half-clothed, delirious-from-the-dance elfs prevail during a show that may include works like “Interlock” and “Ninth Dimension.” Tickets for the trip to this 18+ veritable electronic paradise cost between $25 and $30. On Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8pm, the legendary Launchpad presents a hang-out style concert that has become a holiday legend in Burque. Tom Waits for Christmas is a total seasonal party with libations, piped-in Christmas music to reminisce over and covers of tunes by musical madman and major dude Tom Waits. The covers part of the show features performances by the likes of Billy Crooze, the Silver String Band with special guest Los Bebes, Carlos Jose Rafael Garcia, JD Dame, Avenge Apollo, William Sunday and Darlin' & the Rodeo Runners. Basement films, a local legend in its own right, is there to screen old-timey holiday movies too, so you oughta go. As a heads up, this 21-plus event does not feature the real Tom Waits, but we can remember when he'd perform monthly at Rafael's Silver Cloud on the road to Santa Fe in the early '70s. Take part in it all for a $10 cover. (August March)

Everyone’s favorite hangout, Sister, holds the The Krampus Ugly Sweater Party on Saturday Dec. 21, from 8pm to 1:30am for $10. Krampus, a weird reimagining of Pan, is the Christmas demon who comes to punish horrible children by beating them with switches and chains, which highlights social progress since his inception, because now we pay people to do that to us on weekends. Musical performances by Tone Ranger, Sage Cornelius and DJ Wae Fonkey keep the mood up while a demon strolls around and judges your ugly Christmas sweater. There is a Darkroom Horror photo booth where you can have your portrait taken with Krampus to show your friends you were a naughty little thing this year and deserve a few good lashings.
