If you were stranded on a desert island, what five records would you take with you (no compilations or best-ofs, please)? Here's a better question: How do you expect to play the damn things on a desert island? Turns out, you just have to go to the Science of Sound this Thursday, July 19, at the East Mountain Library to learn how to make a record player from a piece of paper and a cactus needle. The interactive presentation explores the history of recorded audio with hands-on activities for ages 13 to 17. This free lecture begins at noon. Registration is required.
