SUMMARY:STAGE FRIGHT
DESCRIPTION:Stage Fright is a live premiere of spooooky Halloween dances. Geared towards those who love the spooky season and want to broaden their horizons with a new kind of dance. The show acts as an abstract haunted house that you get to experience from the safety and comfort of an audience seat. The show will run ~40 minutes and will have an assortment of themes combined with exciting lights and choreography. You are welcome (and encouraged!) to wear your favorite costume to the performance so that you can head straight to your Halloween parties when the performance ends. This show is being self-produced by a local upcoming artist (also acting as designer and choreographer) so all ticket sales will be going towards the rental of the space and the cost of costumes for the dancers. Please come out to support dance in the community!

SUMMARY::dapperQ Style: Ungendering Fashion" Book Signing and Panel
DESCRIPTION:Bookworks is excited to welcome Anita Dolce Vita to celebrate the release of her book\, “DapperQ Style: Ungendering Fashion.” Anita will be joined in conversation with a panel of LGBTQIA+ activists\, artists\, and performers\, including Marshall Martinez\, Executive Director of Equality NM; and Avery Martini\, drag model/performance artist\, costume designer\, and Creative Director/Producer of the Chocolate Factory ABQ. \nFrom the editor-in-chief of leading queer style magazine dapperQ\, a bold\, beautiful\, and inclusive collection that encourages everyone to be comfortable expressing their own personal style however they choose. \nFashion plays a significant role in the construction of identity. How we style our clothing and adorn our bodies sends a message not only about who we are as individuals\, but the norms and values of communities\, cultures\, and societies across the world. For too long\, mainstream Western fashion has promoted unattainable beauty standards and restrictive binaries as a means of social control. \nAs editor-in-chief of leading queer style magazine dapperQ\, Anita Dolce Vita has provided a platform that transcends these rigid\, exclusionary\, and oppressive fashion rules\, inspiring people of all sexual orientations\, gender identities\, and gender presentations to think differently about both queer fashion and beauty as art and visual activism and ultimately have a deeper\, more fulfilling relationship with style. She believes that fashion should reflect who we are and values such as visibility\, belonging\, and liberation. In this refreshing style book\, she shows that\, no matter your gender identity\, race\, body size\, ability\, age\, or style\, queer fashion is for everyone. \nAnita Dolce Vita is editor-in-chief of leading queer style magazine dapperQ\, a queer style writer\, and executive event producer behind some of the world’s largest celebrations of queer style\, including fashion showcases at the Brooklyn Museum and the first ever queer style panel to be featured at the South by Southwest conference. SUMMARY:Richard Olson Solo Exhibit at Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Eye on the Mountain welcomes back one of it’s most popular artists\, Richard Olson for a Solo Art Exhibit. An Art Opening featuring Live Music by “Bone Orchard” will be held on Saturday\, October 14th from 5-8pm. For this show the Artist Richard Olson is doing remakes of some of his older works of art. For instance he has “re-painted” the “Alice at the Bar hanging out with the White Rabbit” and re-titled the piece “Happy Hour at the Rabbit Hole (After Wonderland).” His Halloween Theme includes Skeleton Paintings\, Jester Paintings\, Rabbit Holes and the Sky Dragons. “It’s kind of like we’re living in this crazy world and bit by bit it’s falling apart\, the old narrative is falling apart\, the glue holding it all in place is falling apart\, and the concepts holding the World together are dying off.” Perhaps this show it is an accidental summation of a cobbled together body of work\, but surely it is a Metaphor for the Art\, Artist and the World at Large! Of Course\, not all of this is meant in abject seriousness\, there is still plenty of playfulness and fun to be seen and experienced by the viewer! Free Parking\, Food and Refreshments. Show runs through November 4th. Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery 222 Delgado Street\, Santa Fe NM. Fall/Winter Hours Friday-Monday 11-6pm. Or by Appointment.
