Thursday 29

“Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman” (A&E 7 p.m.) Just in time for the release of Superman Returns, A&E assembles this look back at The Man of Steel’s influence on the last half century of pop culture.

“The Science of Superman” (National Geographic 7 p.m.) How exactly does one become invulnerable? Leave it to the folks at National Geographic to give us the skinny.

Friday 30

“Kyle XY” (KOAT-7 8 p.m.) Unable to find enough programs to fill their schedules, network television is turning, increasingly, to cable. If you missed Monday’s premiere of “Kyle XY” on ABC Family, for example, you can catch it tonight on ABC.

Saturday 1

“What’s Your Sign Design” (HGTV 7 p.m.) In their continuing quest to find the slightest new wrinkle in home design shows, HGTV pairs up an interior designer and an astrologer in a bid to make over people’s pads in accordance with their astrological sign.

Jolly Roger: Massacre at Cutter’s Cove (Sci-Fi 7 p.m.) Why bother waiting for the new Pirates of the Caribbean film when you can just watch this Sci-Fi Channel flick about an undead pirate zombie who decapitates teens and strippers?

Sunday 2

“99 Most Bizarre” (TLC 4 p.m.) It’s a five-hour marathon of insult and injury. Among the “Most Bizarre” topics tonight are “Self-Inflicted Injuries,” “Survival Stories,” “Stunt Disasters,” “Medical Mistakes” and, my personal fave, “Sleepwalking Misadventures.”

“Twilight Zone” Marathon (Sci-Fi 7 a.m.) It’s a very Serling holiday thanks to this mega “TZ” marathon that lasts until 1 a.m. Wednesday morning! Weird.

Monday 3

The Junkman (Speed 7 p.m.) Speed Channel programmers love them some H.B. Halicki, the writer/director/producer/actor/stuntman who gave car worshippers the original Gone in 60 Seconds . Tonight, Speed presents Halicki’s notorious 1982 movie, which still holds the world’s record for most vehicles destroyed in a single film. Yee-haw !

“Anthony Bourdain: Decoding Ferran Adria” (Travel Channel 8 p.m.) Cynical chef Tony Bourdain heads to Spain to check out the mystifying work of surrealist foodie Ferran Adria, whose dishes consist of foams, flosses, mousses and other rather unidentifiable food items.

Tuesday 4

“Macy’s 4 th of July Fireworks Spectacular” (KOB-4 8 p.m.) I hope there’ll be fireworks!

“An American Celebration at Ford’s Theater: July 4 th Special” (KOAT-7 9 p.m.) Tom Selleck hosts this holiday special for the president and first lady. I’m guessing the Dixie Chicks will not be performing.

“Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” (KRQE-13 9 p.m.) Boy, I’ll bet President Bush is all bummed he’s stuck at Ford’s Theater this year instead of watching a neato “Fireworks Spectacular.”

Wednesday 5

“Rock Star: Supernova” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) Drummer Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), bassist Jason Newstead (Metallica) and guitarist Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses) are looking for a singer for their new “supergroup.” What better way to find one than on a CBS reality show?
