Reel World: You’re On Kinky Camera! You’re On Kinky Camera!

Powers That Be be damned! The owners of Self Serve Sexuality Resource Center are plugging ahead with Pornotopia 2010: Changing the Face of Porn. Though the adult alternative film festival has been wildly successful in years past, it has encountered some problems from the City of Albuquerque regarding zoning. Final, legally defensible details of the festival are still being worked out. But odds are good it will not be at Guild Cinema this year. Wherever it ends up, organizers are adding a new element: Amateur filmmakers are being asked to submit their own adult films. Join them in this sex-positive erotic film revolution. As Annie Sprinkle herself said, “The answer to bad porn isn’t no porn, it’s to make better porn.” You have until Friday, May 14, to submit your naughty masterpiece. Pornotopia wants “a variety of films including straight/gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender/queer/kink/documentary/differing abilities/sexy people of any size, shape or color/ cowboys/amateur/progressive/seasoned lovers/woman or man or genderqueer directed/local/realistic/humorous/genuine experience/diversity of body types or whatever floats your boat.” There is a $10 entry fee for each film. Mail, ship or deliver you work to: Self Serve, 3904B Central SE, Albuquerque N.M. 87108. Selected films will be notified by Sept. 30.

Reel World: Tracking The Sound Tracking The Sound

Egg Murders Productions, the fine folks behind Flicker and The Faithful and the Foul , are hard at work on their next film. Written and directed by Aaron Hendren, and starring Katy Houska, Hannah Kaufmann, Lauren Poole and Rachael Shapiro, Psycho Bettys From Planet Pussycat is a campy sci-fi musical. The film is in preproduction, but Hendren and his cast have come up with an awesome teaser—recording and releasing a cast album in advance of the film! The soundtrack is available through Amazon, iTunes and CDBaby. Buy a copy now and you’ll not only help finance the shoot, but you’ll be able to sing along to all the songs when the movie actually premieres. You can get more info (and listen to a free sneak preview) at eggmurders.com/pbfppsoundtrack.html.
