30 For 30: Bad Boys (ESPN 6pm) ESPN set out to create 30 documentaries for the network’s 30th anniversary. That was back in 2009, and they’re still cranking them out. This look back at the Detroit Pistons of the late ’80s and early ’90s (Dennis Rodman!) is officially the 61st “30 For 30” film.
Monster High: Frights, Camera, Action! (Nickelodeon 8pm) The goth Bratz dolls of Monster High get their own animated feature, much to the delight of 9-year-old girls who love playing dress-up and listening to Morrissey.
“Orphan Black” (BBC America 7pm) Hot damn! The BBC’s addictive sci-fi thriller about a gaggle of clones (all played by the incredible Tatiana Maslany) trying to bust a conspiracy is back for a second season.
“The Real History of Science Fiction” (BBC America 8pm) The Beeb goes all in for nerds with this new documentary series tracing the pop-cultural history of various sci-fi standbys. Tonight: robots!
“Tobacco Wars” (CMT 11pm) No, it’s not a documentary series about the health industry’s fight against big tobacco. This is Country Music Television, son! It’s a reality show about good old redneck tobacco farmers living the American Dream.
In My Dreams (KOAT-7 8pm) “American Idol” contestant Katharine McPhee is a restaurant worker who meets the man of her dreams in her actual dreams and has just seven days to turn her romantic visions into reality.
“Salem” (WGN 8pm) Chicago’s WGN-TV, once a wasteland of “Matlock” reruns and Cubs games, is now WGN America. And they’re launching their first original scripted series with this 17th-century witch drama.
“Adventure Time” (Cartoon Network 7pm) The 6th season premiere? Already? For those of us waiting with bated breath to find out what’s the what with Jake’s dad, this is a major gift. For those of us who worry about the work toll on the show’s makers, these plus-sized seasons and perilously short downtimes seem like prime conditions for burnout. Take it easy, Pendleton Ward, we can wait.
“The Boondocks” (Cartoon Network 11:30pm) The controversy-baiting animated series based on Aaron McGruder’s comic strip returns after a four-year hiatus.
“Brandi and Jarrod: Married to the Job” (A&E 8pm) Well, Barry Weiss got his own “Storage Wars” spin-off with “Barry’d Treasure,” so why shouldn’t Brandi and Jarrod? And Darrell? And Dave? Hell, why not a whole “Storage Wars” network?
“Faking It” (MTV 8:30pm) In this clever, envelope-pushing new sitcom, two high school besties are mistakenly “outed” as lesbians and named Homecoming Queens. But it makes them popular, so they decide to go with it.
“Nature” (KNME-5 7pm) If I died and had to be reincarnated as an animal, I’d choose to return as a Japanese snow monkey. They basically spend all day sitting in hot springs. It looks like a pretty sweet life. Scope it out on tonight’s “Nature.”
