Thursday 14

“Strange Angel” (CBS All Access streaming anytime) Good news! Subscribers finally have something other than “Star Trek: Discovery” to watch on CBS All Access. This crazy biographical drama (executive produced by Ridley Scott) relates the true story of famed rocket scientist Jack Parsons, who not only helped establish the American space program but was also a disciple of sex magic occultist Aleister Crowley.

Friday 15

“Breaking Big” (KNME-5 8:30pm) This interview/profile show looks at how some of the world’s most influential artists, innovators, athletes and leaders became famous. Tonight’s premiere starts off with “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah.

Saturday 16

“Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things” (Nat Geo Wild 7pm) This series is based on the popular Instagram feed, because that’s the kind of world we live in. The network briefly tried to title it “Animals Doing Things With Howie Mandel”—which brought up a lot of questions.

“Grease: Behind Closed Doors” (Reelz 7pm) Though it sounds like a porno knockoff of Grease, this is actually just a making-of documentary about the famous movie musical.

Sunday 17

“Deep State” (Epix 7pm) A former spy (Mark Strong from Kingsmen: The Golden Circle) is drawn into a covert intelligence war and a global conspiracy to profit from the spread of chaos in the Middle East. Donald Trump is gonna be so disappointed when he watches this.

“Man in an Orange Shirt” (KNME-5 8pm) In honor of Gay Pride Month, “Masterpiece Theater” adapts British novelist Patrick Gale’s story of a grandmother (the great Vanessa Redgrave) struggling with her relationship with her gay grandson.

Monday 18

“Big City Greens” (Disney 10:30am) An optimistic country boy moves to the big city with his “rural” relatives. Among the guest voices already lined up for this toon’s first season: Jon Hamm, Raven-Symoné, Busta Rhymes, Danny Trejo, Jim Rash, Paul F. Tompkins, Lauren Lapkus and Scott Aukerman.

“America Says” (GSN 6pm) Two teams of friends and family compete to answer fill-in-the-blank survey responses. Congratulations, Game Show Network, you’ve invented “Family Feud.”

“2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards” (MTV 7pm) Tiffany Haddish hosts, because everyone’s agreed 2018 is her year.

Stranger Fruit (Starz 7pm) This revealing documentary examines the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., which touched off a firestorm of protests across the U.S.

“The Proposal” (KOAT-7 9:01pm) From the creators of “The Bachelor” comes this dating show in which eligible bachelors or bachelorettes answer romantic questions from a man or woman whose identity is hidden from them. Congratulations, ABC, you’ve invented “The Dating Game.” … Of course, since people are stupid and will do anything for a reality show these days, episodes don’t end in an all-expense-paid trip to sunny Acapulco, but in a marriage proposal.

Tuesday 19

“We’re the Campbells” (TV One 6pm) Oh, great. Another reality show featuring a family I’ve never heard of and don’t care about.

Wednesday 20

“Yellowstone” (Paramount 7pm) In this gritty, modern-day Western, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) fights to protect his family’s ranch—the largest in the United States—from land developers, an Indian reservation and America’s first National Park.
