Week in Sloth

Thursday 2

“Jamie and Jimmy’s Food Fight Club” (Ovation 2pm) Pals/chefs Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty open a restaurant in Essex, invite some celebrity pals and perform various cook-offs with European chefs. This British cooking show is a heated-up leftover from 2014.

“Bachelorette Weekend” (CMT 9pm) CMT’s new reality show focuses on a Nashville-based company that plans and hosts elaborate bachelorette parties. So, that’s a thing now.

Friday 3

“Quantico” (KOAT-7 7pm) ABC’s FBI drama comes to an end after three seasons. Star Priyanka Chopra don’t care. She’s busy marrying Nick Jonas.

“Mad Dog Made” (Discovery 8:03pm) “Mad Dog” McClung is a blacksmith who manufactures “state-of-the-art hand-held weapons.”

“Random Acts of Flyness” (HBO 10pm) Artist, musician and experimental filmmaker Terence Nance creates a “fluid, mind-melting stream-of-consciousness response to the contemporary American mediascape” through the use of “interconnected vignettes that makes the series a unique mix of vérité documentary, musical performances, surrealist melodrama and humorous animation.”

Saturday 4

“Ultimate Ninja Challenge” (Discovery 9pm) If TV is to be believed, the ancient Japanese ninjas spent an inordinate amount of time battling one another in obstacle course and survival competitions.

Sunday 5

“Mega Man: Fully Charged” (Cartoon Network 7:30am) Namco’s robotic character, star of more than 50 video games, 5 TV cartoons and several comic books, gets another animated iteration. This one finds a robot schoolboy battling Sgt. Night and his evil team of Robot Masters. The American creators of “Ben 10” and “Generator Rex” serve as writers and executive producers.

“The Venture Bros.” (Cartoon Network 1am) After a two-year hiatus, Jackson Publick’s cracked superhero/action parody returns for a seventh season. (Beats the three-year hiatus we got between the fifth and sixth seasons and the four-year hiatus we got between the fourth and fifth seasons!)

Monday 6

“Better Call Saul” (AMC 7pm) Season 4 of Albuquerque’s favorite sleazy lawyer dramedy inches ever closer to “Breaking Bad” territory. Is this maybe the season we get a glimpse of Walter and Jesse?

“Reality Cupcakes” (Food Network 8pm) C’mon, people. It’s 2018, are we really still fascinated by the idea that people are capable of baking cupcakes?

Tuesday 7

“Carter” (WGN 8pm) I feel bad for real-life police detectives. How in the world do they solve crimes if they aren’t partnered with writers, actors, psychics, fake psychics, magicians, Sherlock Holmes, Lucifer or an artificially intelligent supercomputer? In this new crime series, Jerry O’Connell stars as as an out-of-work actor who used to play a detective on TV and now … yup, helps the real police solve crimes.

“Castaways” (KOAT-7 9pm) This faint variation on “Survivor” strands 12 individuals on a remote tropical island … but doesn’t tell them there are other competitors also washed up and waiting for rescue.

Wednesday 8

“Robot Wars” (Science 8:07pm) It’s “Battle Bots,” but British. So, I guess they run on 230 V instead of 120 V.
