Originally commissioned by local business pioneers Maria & Oreste Bachechi and opened on Sept. 19, 1927, the historic KiMo Theatre in downtown Albuquerque is a shining example of the “Pueblo Deco” art style and one of the most iconic buildings in our city. The theater (located at 423 Central Ave. NW) is offering free, docent-led guided tours every Wednesday throughout the month of January. It’s a great opportunity to see this glorious film, stage and music venue with the lights on and to learn more about its historical and architectural significance. The first tour takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at noon. Jan. 9, Jan. 13 and Jan. 20 are the upcoming dates. All tours start at noon. For more details or to register in advance for free tickets, go to kimotickets.com. hjhgjhg
