Week in Sloth

Thursday 16

“The Big Bang Theory” (KRQE-13 7pm) CBS’ sitcom about what your mom thinks nerds are like comes to an end after 12 seasons with a one-hour series finale.

Friday 17

“1994” (Netflix streaming anytime) Archival footage and new interviews enliven this docuseries look at Mexican politics in the pivotal year of 1994, when the Zapatista Army of National Liberation rose and presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio was assassinated.

“It’s Bruno!” (Netflix streaming anytime) Award-winning Algerian-American rapper Solvan “Slick” Naim is the creator, writer, director and star of this man-dog comedy about a tough guy in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn who devotes his days to caring for his adorable little dog Bruno.

“Meghan and Harry Plus One” (KRQE-13 7pm) There are, evidently, plenty of people obsessed with the various marriages and births of the British royal family. If you’re one of them, here’s your weekly fix.

Saturday 18

The Blackcoat’s Daughter (Netflix streaming anytime) Not a lot of people got to see this very slow-building and extremely eerie supernatural drama from writer-director Osgood Perkins (who also gave us the similarly languid I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House). It’s definitely not for every taste, but it’s worth seeking out if you’re a patient fan of atmospheric horror.

Psycho Granny (Lifetime 6pm) C’mon, Lifetime! I’m fine with psycho PTA presidents, stalker babysitters, murderous swim coaches and various other deadly suburban types. But when you start messing with mee-maw … well, that’s a step too far.

Sunday 19

“Supergirl” (KRQE-DT2 7pm) This season 4 finale of “Supergirl”—titled “The Quest for Peace”—is a cheeky shout-out to the 1987 movie bomb Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. No word if the villainous Nuclear Man will show up to assist Lex Luthor.

“Game of Thrones” (HBO 7pm) This is it. Your office betting pool ends tonight. With this long-awaited series finale, we finally get to see who ends up sitting on the Iron Throne. Don’t be surprised if we see a Kentucky Derby-style upset, either.

Monday 20

“The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special 2019” (KRQE-13 9pm) Celine Dion joins James for a new segment alongside favorite singing-and-driving clips from the past year of “The Late Late Show.”

Tuesday 21

“Blood & Treasure” (KRQE-13 8pm) CBS gets all Tomb Raider-y for this globe-hopping adventure series about “a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief” who team up to take down an evil terrorist who funds his attacks by stealing priceless treasures.

Wednesday 22

“Live in Front of A Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’” (KOAT-7 7pm) Woody Harrelson, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Fox, Wanda Sykes, Ellie Kemper and Will Ferrell are among the modern stars recreating—live on stage—two classic episodes of Norman Lear’s groundbreaking ’70s sitcoms “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons.”

“The Butcher” (History 8:03pm) Yup, this is a high-stakes televised competition for master butchers, who are asked to “put their knowledge, strategy and technique to the ultimate test.”
