Week in Sloth

Thursday 5

“Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears” (KOB-4 6:15pm) The NFL season officially kicks off with this showdown between the ailing Packers and the increasingly legitimate Bears.

Friday 6

“Archibald’s Next Big Thing” (Netflix streaming anytime) The children’s book about an insecure chicken, written by actor Tony Hale (“Veep,” “Arrested Development”), comes to life courtesy of DreamWorks Animation.

“Couples Therapy” (Showtime 8pm) This docu-series looks at the struggles of real-life couples going through relationship problems while undergoing weekly therapy sessions with Dr. Orna Guralnik. You know what would help those relationship problems? Airing them on a reality TV show for everyone to see.

Saturday 7

Identity Theft of a Cheerleader (Lifetime 6pm) I can’t help but feel that Lifetime’s brand of suburban paranoia is running short on ideas. On the up side, it is Cheerleader Month! Following Death of a Cheerleader, Cheerleader Nightmare and The Secret Life of Cheerleaders on Sept. 2, we’ve go The Wrong Cheerleader on Sept. 8, The Cheerleader Escort on Sept. 14 and Undercover Cheerleader on Sept. 15.

Sunday 8

“Country Music: Live at the Ryman, a Concert Celebrating the Film by Ken Burns” (KNME-5 7pm) Dierks Bentley, Rosanne Cash, Rhiannon Giddens, Vince Gill, Kathy Mattea, Marty Stewart and Dwight Yoakam get together to salute Ken Burns’ upcoming PBS documentary series.

“A Very Brady Renovation” (HGTV 7pm) The six remaining members of the “Brady Bunch” sitcom cast reunite to help HGTV renovate the iconic real-life $3.5 million Southern California home used in exterior shots from the show. Maybe this will finally explain how the Brady house was only a single story on the outside, but a two-story on the inside.

“Lip Sync to the Rescue” (KRQE-13 7pm) Cedric the Entertainer hosts this “interactive countdown special” in which first responders channel their inner pop stars and lip sync to hit music. … No, really.

“CBS Fall Preview” (KRQE-13 8pm) Now that you’re full up with ambulance drivers doing their best Lizzo imitations, CBS would like to interest you in a new sitcom starring Patricia Heaton and a courtroom drama or two.

Tuesday 10

“Ghosted: Love Gone Missing” (MTV 7pm) MTV has a long history of taking popular slang words (Cribs, Trippin’, Buzzin’, Cuff’d, Punk’d, Jammed, Friendzone, Catfish, Promposal) and turning them into TV shows.
