Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) takes a whack at remaking Dario Argento's iconic 1977 horror flick. Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) stars as an ingenuous American dance student who gets into the exclusive Tanz Academy in West Berlin, circa 1977. While terrorism and division reigns on the streets, our heroine discovers that the school's staff (led by artsy Tilda Swinton) is made up entirely of immortal witches looking for fresh flesh and blood. There are some inspired moments and plenty of gore, but the script adds a few too many sideplots to the original, bogging the whole eerie affair down in pretension, political machinations and interpretive dance.FULL REVIEW:Remake of cult horror classic engages in mesmerizing, confounding dance of death by Devin D.
