Music video director Autumn de Wilde (who did a lot of stuff with Beck) tries his hand at a feature film by adapting Jane Austen's venerable 1815 romance. Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split) stars as our well-meaning but selfish title character who persistently meddles in the love lives of her various friends and neighbors. Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Callum Turner and Rupert Graves are among the usual suspects playing dress-up. There's style to burn and a commanding central perf in this rigidly faithful adaptation, but not a lot of fresh insight. For pure fun and reinvention, 1995's Clueless remains the unconventional high water mark. 125 minutes PG.
