Innovative indie director Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Sin City) turned to his son 7-year-old son Racer for the plot of this simplistic kiddy flick, in which a young boy's imaginary superhero friends come to life. The CGI-heavy film plays out like an extended videogame with a few uninspired 3-D sequences thrown in for the sake of gimmick. Like Rodriguez' last two Spy Kids films, this one has a bit too much unrestrained imagination and not enough actual plot. The 6-year-olds in the audience won't complain, but the adults will walk away with a headache. 94 minutes PG.
