Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero

This cheaply animated, French-Canadian family film is (loosely, let's go with loosely) based on the true story of Sergeant Stubby, a stray Boston Terrier who became the mascot of the 102nd Infantry Regiment, tagged along to the trenches of World War I and became a hero, saving troops from an incoming mustard gas attack. Mustard gas attacks are a pretty weird topic for a kiddy cartoon, but here we are. Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Helena Bonham Carter (The Wings of the Dove) and Gérard Depardieu (Jean de Florette) are among the kid-friendly(?) voice cast. 85 minutes PG.
