What’s Tappening

Chama’s special taps are at the ready.
Chama’s special taps are at the ready.

Time for another roundup of what’s being poured at your favorite local breweries. But first, exciting local news:

Il Vicino Brewery has leased space to build a brewery at Stanford and Aztec after losing its lease at the Vassar location. Former Chama brewer Jeff Erway had a brewing line trucked in from Ohio and is a baby step closer to opening his own brewery. Baby steps. His wife is pregnant.

Here’s your tap list and notes from the experts, before this turns into a damn gossip column.

Il Vicino Brewery, Brady McKeown

Vienna Lager: “Made with Munich and Vienna malts and Tettnanger hops, this Amber Lager drinks easy without sacrificing flavor.” 4.5 percent ABV

Simcoe Pale Ale: “100 percent Simcoe hops make for an aromatic, hoppy pale that could double as an IPA.” 6.5 percent ABV

Coffee Stout: “English chocolate and crystal malts combine with Australian coffee to wire you with this light and drinkable stout.” 4.7 percent ABV

Turtle Mountain, Mark Matheson

Yankee Stout: “This stout is smooth, yet has chocolate overtones on the palate. Roasted and chocolate malts, and summit hops.” 5.6 percent ABV

Pennant Ale: “This small batch of Extra Special Bitter was brewed to remember the hard-earned victories in life and baseball. Enjoy this while rooting for your team to earn the pennant this season.” 5.8 percent ABV

Audit Ale: “Taxes done? File for an extension? Owe money? Gettin' money back? Here's a brew that'll make you a little less anxious about your financial situation. This IPA has about 90 IBUs with a little bit of Galena hops and a lot of Amarillo hops.” 9 percent ABV

Amnesia: “Ahhh, our favorite beer that everyone loves to forget is back! The day after our first anniversary party, the obscured and lost memories of the prior evening quickly brought a name change to our Anniversary Ale.” 9.8 percent ABV

Marble Brewery, Ted Rice

Double White Ale: “This Belgian-style pale wheat ale is fragrant, dry and a touch tart. Brewed with coriander and orange and lemon peel, giving a distinct flavor.” 7 percent ABV

MPA: “This beer is a refreshing American pale ale, dry hopped with Simcoe and cascade.” 5.1 percent ABV

Chama River Brewery, Justin Hamilton

Centennial Pale Ale: “Pleasant and sweet floral aromatics with a crisp, clean drinkability make this a perfect session beer.” 6.2 percent ABV
