The theme of this week’s column sort of ended up being “cute foodie things to do with your significant other,” which was not originally what I was going for. What I was going for, honestly, was just a list of things that I really want to do this month. But because February is all about being in love or whatever, all these cool events are just sort of tailored in that direction. They all happen later in the month, but also all require reservations—so make sure you grab those tickets before they’re all filled up.

Weekly Specials: Origins Of Coffee At Deep Space Origins Of Coffee At Deep Space

Everyone who works at Deep Space Coffee (504 Central Ave. SW) is really cute and also knows everything there is to know about coffee. It’s not fair. But now you can become one of those cute coffee nerds by taking their Coffee Origins class on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6:30pm. Learn about how and where coffee grows, what makes it tasty and how you can be a more conscious coffee consumer. Reserve your spot by stopping in or calling them at 322-2812. Tickets are $10.

Weekly Specials: Wine And Chocolate 101 At La Joliesse Wine And Chocolate 101 At La Joliesse

Knowing how to pair things with wine is a tried and true way to impress people, and we all know that you like impressing people. On Friday, Feb. 9, learn how to pair wine with chocolate with La Joliesse (6855 Fourth Street NW) at their special Wine & Chocolate 101 class. Does smelling the cork actually do anything? And what the heck is a tannin anyway? Prepare to find out. The event goes from 6:30 to 8pm, and tickets cost $45. Reserve your spot at lajoliesse.com/store/p47/winechocolate101 or by calling 369-1561.

Weekly Specials: Cooking From The Heart At Los Poblanos Cooking From The Heart At Los Poblanos

While Valentine’s Day is mostly a thinly veiled capitalist ruse to get you to buy stuff for your partner that they neither want nor need, it can also be a good excuse to have that nice date that you two have been not having for the past three months. Why not make that date night a cooking class at Los Poblanos (4803 Rio Grande Blvd. NW)? At their Cooking from the Heart class from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, Feb. 18, Chef Elizabeth Gallery teaches a menu of tasty and healthy French-inspired dishes that will easily become part of your kitchen repertoire. Tickets are $138. Sign up for the class at lospoblanos.ticketleap.com/cooking-from-the-heart or by calling 344-9297.

Weekly Specials: Farmer’s Dinner Staycation Farmer’s Dinner Staycation

Y’all, I want to go to this dinner so bad. Not only is it at Sarabande B&B (5637 Rio Grande Blvd. NW), the coolest-looking new bed and breakfast in town, it features veggies from Vida Verde and Otter Farms—two lovely New Mexico growers. Is the dinner cheap? No. Do normal people ever really use the word “staycation” unironically? No. But check out their website and tell me those dishes don’t look staggeringly tasty. Rumor has it there’s going to be something magical happening with some daikon radishes and winter greens. This affair goes down on Sunday, Feb. 25 and includes an overnight stay in one of Sarabande’s luxury bedrooms. Packages start at $259 for the weekend, and include a $25 gift card to the Sarabande store. So, you know, if you’ve got somebody you want to treat real nice for Valentine’s Day … make reservations at sarabandebnb.com/farmersdinner or by calling 348-5593.
