Canine Café Fundraising

You’ve heard of cat cafés by now, right? Well, canine cafés are a thing too. New Mexico Pets Alive is currently raising funds and supplies to expand their canine café (which is a venue for folks to play with and adopt shelter dogs) to a larger location. This new location will serve coffee drinks and prepared food and drinks, so you can sip on something while you cuddle some puppers. UNM Taproom to Open in Fall

According to a news release on Feb. 14, UNM plans to begin construction of a taproom on campus starting this summer. The project was originally proposed by UNM student leaders Gus Pedrotty and Sara Collins in the fall of 2016. The taproom design was crafted by students from the UNM School of Architecture and Planning, and construction should be finished in time to open for the 2018 fall semester.

Cutbow Coffee Opening Soon

Paul Gallegos, an Albuquerque native with over 25 years of coffee roasting experience from working at Peet’s Coffee in California, is returning to open his own shop in the North Valley. Cutbow Coffee will open its doors at 1208 Rio Grande Blvd. NW, in about two weeks. The area doesn’t have a craft coffee shop to call its own, so it will likely be welcomed with open arms. Expect to hear more about Cutbow here in the coming weeks.

ABQ Restaurant Week

Albuquerque Restaurant Week is coming up—from March 4 to 11, participating restaurants across the city will be offering special fixed price menus to diners. If you’re looking for an excuse to go out and try a new-to-you restaurant, this is it. Regular menu service will be offered as well, but, let’s be honest, you should really get that multiple course sampler dinner. You can see the whole list of participating restaurants at

New La Cumbre Taproom

Beloved local craft brewery La Cumbre is planning on opening a new location on the Westside. The new taproom will live in a 2,400-square-foot space on the southeast corner of Coors Boulevard and Montaño Road. In a blog post on their website, La Cumbre said the space “will include an eastern facing 900 sf (give or take, plans are not complete as of yet) patio space with views of the Sandias. We have hired an architect, submitted our license applications, interviewed general contractors … The ball is rolling.” Sounds pretty sweet to me. We’ll be sure to let you know when an opening date is set in stone.
