Position Summary Applicants are invited to apply for our Associate Scientist III position in the Department of Neurology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Cen The Human MR Imaging Research Laboratory in the Department of Neurology (http://neurology.unm.edu/research/mr-lab/index.html ) is seeking an MRI staff scientist to join an NIH funded multi-center collaboration with the Departments of Anesthesiology and Neurosurgery, and the MIND Research Network (https://www.mrn.org/). The successful candidate will characterize resting-state functional MRI signal fluctuations in different frequency bands and work with imaging scientists, physicians and neurosurgeons to develop novel diagnostic MRI methods for mapping brain function in patients with brain tumors. Responsibilities include the optimization of ultra-high-speed data acquisition and reconstruction techniques on clinical MRI scanners, mapping of brain function using task-based and resting state fMRI, and analysis of measured signal changes using model- and data-driven analysis as well as biophysical modeling. This successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team with supervisory responsibilities of graduate student research. A transition to a Postdoctoral Fellowship position is available if desired. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications · Masters or Ph.D. in MR physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science or related fields. · Strong background in advanced MR physics, digital signal processing, and reconstruction of parallel imaging data · Experience with pulse sequence development (IDEA) and image reconstruction (ICE) on the Siemens Syngo platform · Documented ability to program in MATLAB and C/C++ on LINUX and Windows platforms. · Demonstrable record of peer-reviewed journal publications · Excellent written and oral communication skills.
