Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department to conduct DWI checkpoints, saturation patrols this weekend

NM DOT announces two major weekend construction closures around the Big I

This weekend will see the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department conducting saturation patrols and checkpoints throughout the county, with deputies on the lookout for aggressive driving, seatbelt use, proper child safety restraints, valid insurance and registration and driving under the influence.

These patrols and checkpoints begin today and will continue through Saturday, August 27th. The BCSO asks local media to make the public aware of their presence in the hopes of deterring these preventable driving practices.

Beginning at 9pm this evening, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the I-25 Northbound exit ramp at Lomas will be closed, as will the I-25 Northbound flyover ramp to Eastbound I-40. Detours will be posted near these work zones.

As always, avoiding a DWI is in motorists' hands.

Sobriety Patrols Through the North East Heights Tonight and Saturday Night

Watch your intake this weekend!

Most Burquenos expect checkpoints and saturation patrols in the downtown and university neighborhoods. Studies have shown, however, alcohol-related crashes don't discriminate between the ABQ valley and the frights.

Whether you're on your way home from the titty bar or bringing a stranger back to the base: call a cab, uber or, well, walk.

Let's be careful out there.

Post Christmas DWI Checkpoints

Coping after Christmas? There will be DWI checkpoints in the Northwest Command Area (I-40 area) on December 26 and 27 starting around 10 pm and going till 3 am. If you picked up our Boozy Gift Guide, maybe you'll remember I wrote about how to get home safely after a night of shenanigans (aka getting sloshed).

You can bookmark it, cut it out of the paper and put it in your wallet or bra, write it down on your arm, hell, get it tattooed on your arm; just don't drive drunk!

Stay safe and happy holidays, you noobs.
