As an unassuming novice when it comes to hip-hop, I predicted Big Boi would have slightly lost his vigor when he announced a solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, in 2010, but my doubts were immediately assuaged upon reviewing it for my college daily. Now, Big Boi returns with his second solo endeavor, scheduled to drop on Dec. 11 and is titled Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.
Though he's been steadily releasing tracks for previewing purposes, I tend to be one of those music listeners who prefers to hear the finished product. But today, I decided to take a listen to Big Boi's latest offering, “She Hates Me.” The track, featuring Kid Cudi, is up to par with Big Boi's other solo works, yet the sentimentality behind the song—fixing a broken relationship—adds a nice touch. The beats and production are top-notch, indicating Big Boi still has many tricks up his sleeve. After tweeting that he was in the studio with Modest Mouse (who are recording the follow-up to 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank), who knows what Big Boi will do next?
