As I decided what podcast to share with y’all today, I’m surrounded by glorious canines. Not wolves, mind you. But one of the coolest things about working at the Alibi is the dog-friendly office. That’s how I ended up selecting my Walking the Wolf mix for today’s blog. It’s an exciting story, I know. But I promise the podcast itself is far more thrilling than my description of the selection process. Stream the mix—featuring tracks by The Kill Spectors, Tenderizor, Venus Bogardus, The Grave of Nobody’s Darling, Great White Buffalo, Sabertooth Cavity, Bigawatt and The Kleptones—below or visit the original blog post for the full track list.

Song Roulette
Tenderizor is a thrash noise band from Albuquerque. The five-piece just released its first record, Touch The Sword, and on Monday, May 23, performs at The Kosmos (1715 Fifth Street NW) with Japanese psychedelic rock band / cult Acid Mothers Temple. Vanquishing the format rules of Song Roulette, Tenderizor—collectively—offers random tracks it was jamming on cassette in the van on a West Coast Tour(oar) this spring.

Raven Chacon curates the city’s underground
In life there are certain truths: What goes up must come down, all's fair in love and war, a stitch in time saves nine and one who makes a synthesizer out of a cougar pelt is wicked awesome. Musician, teacher and installation artist Raven Chacon is familiar with the latter, having made just that as part of a Winnipeg-based project by his interdisciplinary American Indian arts collective, Postcommodity. When the piece is pet, the pelt synth purrs, and when it’s twisted it raars. The group also fashioned an antler cello and antler harp, and made a drum from a boar bladder and a coffee can. The instruments, says Chacon, are meant to be played by a futuristic tribe representing the last of its culture.
