Best of Burque Music: How to Play

Voting is open for the Alibi's 2009 Best of Burque awards, and it's accessible exclusively through alibi.com. Don't hold your breath for a paper ballot—polling is 100 percent digitized. (The results are not. We'll report the result in the April 2 issue of the Alibi.)

This year, along with Best Metal and Best New/Emerging Band, you can vote on new superlatives like Best Avant-Garde Act, Best Guitarist, Best Vocalist and Best Music Equipment Store.

Also at the voting site are some cool BoB buttons and banners—you're welcome to swipe your favorites (there's a menu of copy-and-paste html codes) to stick on your online music pages.

The the last day to vote is Thursday, March 12, at noon. Log on to alibi.com/BOB and get cracking.

Stock the 9

Saturday, Feb. 28, is the deadline to apply for Rock the 9, an all-Native American rock show that coincides (unofficially) with the Gathering of Nations. The inaugural concert organized last year by JJ Otero (Saving Damsels) and Rod Lacy (The Old Main) featured native bands from New Mexico, Arizona and Canada, and included heavyweight headliners Keith Secola and Derek Miller. To be considered for this year's electric powwow, e-mail rockthe9@gmail.com with a link to your band's MP3-loaded website.
