DIG

On Saturday, April 7, the 2bers shares its fourth studio album, DIG, with the world, but it’s not merely a release party. The hip-hop duo—BlesInfinite (Luke Hale) and Eph’Sharpe (Collin Troy)—has been a Burque mainstay since its creation in 1999. With DIG the songwriters/MCs/producers wanted to mark the occasion with something beyond the typical celebratory function.

Here the musical team has partnered with nonprofits that will benefit from the concert— Equality New Mexico, the Media Arts Collaborative Charter School, and the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice. Hale and Troy, both New Mexico natives and fathers, aim to broaden the reach of their music scene and accentuate the various forms of community orbiting it. Saturday’s forward-thinking, all-ages show includes performances by hip-hop crew Zoology, funk-rock band La Junta, all-female percussion band Mala Maña, and hip-hop conservatory and theater Urban Verbs.

Hale and Troy recorded, produced and engineered DIG at their own Stem & Root Studios (which is open for business—the guys having recorded Mother Death Queen and other locals as of late). The album artwork and flyer are creations of Oakland-by-way-of-Burque artist David Polka. Buy DIG at 2bers.bigcartel.com/product/dig. (Jessica Cassyle Carr)
