The second phase of Weekly Alibi’s Operation Art Box is underway. As submissions to the yearly contest are now closed, Alibi staffers are busy determining who the best candidates are from the over 100 entries. As you may recall, contest entrants used a $50 alibi-supplied stipend—with the help of sponsors Artisan Santa Fe and The Harwood Art Center—to create far out public art using the metal boxes we use to distribute our newspaper all over this fine city.

After 12 finalists are chosen, their work will be presented at the Harwood Art Center’s First Friday event on Friday, July 7. Expect a happening opening that evening, complete with snacks and libations—in a addition to art boxes and other creative work by contest winners.
