Dim sum and sushi under the same roof? It's like a dream come true. The beautiful interior of this vintage filling station just East of the federal courthouse is a marked change from the cozy home interior near the university where AmerAsia used to reside. Hyangami Yi's food is just as good as ever. Expect her familiar dim sum plates and buns, and feel free to order sushi you've never had in this town from her brother Woo Youn. He's got all the usual sashimi and nigiri in his adjoining restaurant, but it's his original, creative rolls that really set Sumo apart—that, and the adorable little train that ferries your pickled ginger around the sushi bar.

It just makes sense to order the steamed artichoke at the Artichoke Café. Slathered in lemon-caper oil and a raspberry vinaigrette, it makes a great starter before trying a heftier order of grilled curried chicken or sliced steak. Once your upscale lunch or dinner has concluded, adjourn to the sexy wine bar next door. The wine list is actually a bound leather tome featuring a massive assortment of wines. Prices start at a decent $28 or $30 a bottle and zoom into the upper stratospheres of frivolity. You can also order select vintages by the half-bottle or glass. You'll love the front-facing windows, curvy wooden bar and comfy seating.

While the menu is on the concise side, all the dishes here are executed to perfection. While you wait, watch the game or play a game—a board game, that is! With all the hubbub happening at night Downtown, this is a perfectly chill place to escape for a drink or two.

Cheese & Coffee has some 20 sandwich choices, including a fruit and cheese, a gyro and a French dip, awaiting the hungry diner. The Sicilian sandwich—a pepperoni, capicola and mozzarella concoction on French bread—is most excellent. Try a slice of the moist and springy house-baked lemon cake with just enough tartness to complement the rich cream cheese frosting.

How awesome is a distillery with both knockout drinks and a great small plate and entrée menu? It’s pretty darn awesome, which is why you’ll frequently find us sipping a cucumber-infused gin fizz at Hollow Spirits’ bar and sharing cassava fries and charcuterie with our homies.
