There are some breweries in Albuquerque with excellent food, but only one can claim a James Beard Award. Chef David Ruiz of Toltec Brewing (formerly of Pueblo Harvest Cafe) entered a custom burger in the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project—a competition that urged chefs to create a burger that blended meat with mushrooms for a healthier alternative.

Bosque Brewing’s latest location is their most ambitious by far in terms of scale—approaching from the east, Bosque North looks like an aluminum-sided castle. The ambition has paid off in a big way, with spectacular mountain views and plenty of outdoor seating, along with a truly classy food menu. How about some mussels cooked in coconut milk with your beer? Or a turkey sandwich with Gruyere cheese and a tarragon aioli? Yeah, the breweries are really upping their food game lately. And we’re not mad.
Alibi recommends: Elephants on Parade, the seasonal brew, and the Thai mussels in coconut milk
Vibe: Lots of natural light, great views and outdoor seating—a perfect summer hangout spot.

Fritz Allen opened the Corrales Bistro Brewery next door to his Hanselmann Pottery shop in the Corrales Artisan Center. The menu is full of appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches and burgers. Roasted garlic and feta bread dippers are replete with crumbled feta, olive tapenade, balsamic dipping sauce and toasted pita. Hand-cut fries and an assortment of sides complete the mix, with good brews to wash it all down. Stop by for the almost-daily live music and you’ll feel right at home.

They take beer seriously here, and Turtle Mountain is one of the few places west of the river where you'll find house-brewed beer. Don't leave without trying the thin-crusted pizzas or a calzone. Oh, and order some root beer for the kids—that's made there too.
