Tucanos Brazilian Grill
Mon-Thu: 11am-10pm
Fri-Sat: 11am-11pm
Sun: 11am-9pm (hours can change without notice)
Meat, meat, meat. All-you-can-eat meat. And then there's the salad bar. This joint’s got more dead meat than you can shake a chunk of meat on a stick at. From the kill to the grill, Tucanos makes all your dreams come true. That is, if you dream about meaty hunks of marinated flesh sliced right at your table. This lively, busy and fun Brazilian-themed restaurant next to the Century 14 movie theater is open late.

Ajiaco Colombian Bistro
Cuisine: South American

This Colombian cuisine spot serves up beautifully satisfactory meals. We like the choriarepa (corn cake with chorizo) and the picada (pork rinds, chorizo, yuca, plantain, Colombian potatoes, lemon, chimichurri and aji) but our favorite thing is the maracuya (passion fruit) jugos con leche. The friendly—although few—servers make the wait for the delicious food worth it.

A lively pan-South American café featuring cubano sandwiches, arepa, ajiaco and other Latin delights. The cubano is a can’t-miss. Make sure you down it with a glass of muracayá, and try the mouth-watering flan do coco before you leave this relaxed eatery.

El Papaturro
Mon closed
Tue-Sat 9am-8pm
Sun 10am-5pm (hours can change without notice)
This quiet little establishment in the North Valley is serving up some majorly tasty Salvadoran food. Go for one of their lunch specials like the filling El Papaturro plate, or have a big steaming bowl of seafood or beef caldo on a cold evening. We love their homemade tomato sauce on top of pupusas and tamales, and the side of curtido adds a nice acidic kick to every dish.

Fusion cuisine is always hit or miss, and this one is a definite hit. Chef Elvis Bencomo (previously of Pasion Latin Fusion) has a knack for combining the tastiest ingredients from different cultures in new and interesting ways. Take Poki Poblano’s plantain empanadas, for example: you think I’m talking about pastry filled with plaintains, right? Nah. Here, you get empanadas that are made with plantain dough—the filling is housemade vegan feta and spinach. Sounds pretty wacky, but it works so well. Plenty of (well-labeled) options for the vegan and the gluten free crowd here.

Pick your size, ingredients, spice level and add-ons for a tasty poke bowl. Choices range from ahi to shrimp, salmon and even octopus. Very friendly, helpful staff. We recommend the Latin bowl.
