Win a pair of tickets to Michael Fitzpatrick—cello performance and Compassion Rising film preview

Tamara Fitzpatrick, New York

We’re looking forward to next Wednesday, Oct. 27’s evening of music and film at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, a benefit for Albuquerque’s RigDzin Dharma Center. The featured performer is cellist Michael Fitzpatrick, a Prince Charles Award recipient for outstanding musicianship (bestowed by the Prince of Wales himself) in a program of meditative original compositions. "The emotion induced by Michael Fitzpatrick's music is so powerful it seems almost verbalized,” says H.H. Dalai Lama. “His music brings peace to the world."

Also in the spotlight is a preview for the film Compassion Rising, featuring Tibet's Drepung Loseling Monks, world-renowned for their multiphonic chants.

Reserved $15-$25 tickets are available at the NHCC Box Office (1701 Fourth Street SW, 724-4771), but one lucky alibi.com reader will win a free pair!

Just share an example of compassion that you’ve personally experienced (in the comment area below). We’ll pick one karmicly gifted respondent and announce the winner on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Good luck!

When flying into DFW many years ago, worrying about a tight connection between terminals, my seatmate - an older businessman who really could have ignored me - asked me what I was stressing about. Turned out he had a car parked right outside the terminal we were landing at, and he drove me over to the other terminal. I would never have made the flight without him - but it's his kindness to a panicky young person that I remember most of all.
