What do you think of when you hear the word "streetcar"? 1950s Paris? The modern-day urban transportation mecca that is Portland, Ore.? Marlon Brando?Apparently, Mayor Martin Chavez thinks of Central Avenue, where he’s planning to lay down some rails and implement a brand-new streetcar system. I received a press release this morning for the project, which lists public comment meetings for "world-class streetcars running along Central Avenue from Old Town to Nob Hill and from Central Avenue to the Sunport."
